A native of La Union, Efren Padua, born on October
11, 1949, came to Manila to be trained for a national competition
in chess. However, GOD has HIS own plan for this fellow’s life.
As he was practicing in their house one afternoon, three Christians
came for visitation; since the prospect, his sister, wasn’t
home, they invited him to come to church, Baptist Bible Church, Sta.
Mesa.
There, he knew about the Gospel and invited
the LORD JESUS CHRIST into his heart. Little did he know that that
is the beginning of an expansive task for him. Bro. Efren Padua
surrendered his life to GOD and followed HIS leading.
He took up and completed his Bachelor in
Theology in 2000. At present, Rev. Efren Padua is the president
of the alumni association of his alma matter, Asia Baptist Bible
College, and he aims to maximize every opportunity to involve every
alumnus in the work of the LORD.
As Pastor Padua declares to the church, he
never regretted obeying the LORD. No remorse for heeding John 20:21,
“...Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even
so send I you.”
A man of few words, a prayer warrior and
observably hooked with the Word, Rev. Padua is a testimony of God’s
everlasting love manifested through meekness and calmness. It is
his pleasure to speak of his gratefulness to his pastor, Dr. Joseph
Boyd Lyons, for spiritual pattern.
His spiritual mind-set, seeing every Christian
as an opportunity to train and be a blessing to, keeps him to remain
rooted by God’s grace. Perhaps, every challenge he has undergone
equals to every strand of hair that rapidly turns to gray.
As he would advise the church to read at
least three chapters in the BIBLE for spiritual nourishment, he
recommends an addition of 3 or more to be able to reach out to others
also; he, himself, is usually spotted reading the Bible wherever
possible.
A loving husband, a patient and understanding
father, a very affectionate grandfather, a nice father-in-law, one
kind and selfless pastor, an edifying instructor, a principled leader,
a warm friend, a supportive brother, an ideal team member. Evidently
aspiring to be Christ-like, he continuously labors in love to be
counted worthy in the ministry by the grace of God.
Let glory and praise be to God.
