May 27, 2008
The Baptist Basketball League ended spectacularly last May 27, 2008. Four out of six churches emerged on the league and fought vigorously on the semi-final, a round robin match format.

During the semis, Maranatha International Baptist Church, Montalban (MIBC) won all their games and waited for their championship opponent. Meanwhile, Pasig Baptist Bible Church (Pasig) won against Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church (EBBC) while EBBC won against Moriah Baptist Bible Church (Moriah). Moriah lost their first two consecutive games on the road but won their last game against Pasig. Three churches came out to have same standings (1 win-2 losses). Quotient rule, as agreed upon, was applied to determine who would fight for the championship and to avoid prolonging of schedule. As a result, Pasig automatically awaited the opponent for 3rd place while EBBC and Moriah held a knockout game.

The knockout game became one of the best games ever played on the league. Both teams played their best. It was 12 seconds remaining on the 4th quarter with EBBC leading ahead by 3 points. Rendo Padua inbounded the ball to Derek Salamat who then passed the ball to Karlo Manajero. 1 second remaining, he took the shot on the 3-point lane and bang! It was a very upsetting moment for the EBBC team while Moriah jumps for joy for the big turn of even. It was an overtime! Moriah won the game 110-104.

Moriah fought against MIBC for the championship while EBBC fought with Pasig for 3rd place. The game was held again in the Manotoc Basketball Gym, Sto. Niño, Marikina.

Moriah won the championship trophy against MIBC while EBBC won the 3rd place against Pasig Baptist Bible church.

The mythical five of league were Mark Mitas and Reggie Katipunan of EBBC, Arnulfo Alaba of Pasig, Ser Panizales of MIBC and Karlo Manajero of Moriah. The Most Valuable player is Jay-R Go of Moriah.

The enjoyment, thrill, and excitement of this event can never be forgotten and is now one of a historical highlight of our church events. The league’s goal: fellowship, camaraderie and evangelism were all achieved. Thanks to all the churches and pastors who participated. Praise be to God for His goodness! To God be the glory!

Apr. 18, 2008 - Two churches in Montalban clashed in a very close, intense and exciting ball game held at JEM Subdivision Basketball Gym in Parang, Marikina. Maranatha International Baptist Church of San Jose won with just a two-point lead from Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church, eventhough the 3-point shooting playing coach and head pastor Rev. Freddie De Vega did not play due to an ankle sprain he suffered from a camp activity. With just only five of them, they were able to manage the high-flying and well rounded team of Rev. Ricky Cuaterno. MIBC Montalban made a good start on the first quarter, leading by as much as 15 points. However, EBBC rallied behind and was able to catch up with MIBC's big men. The score were almost always even, however, multiple turn-overs made a toll on EBBC. Both teams are now holding 2 win 2 loss card. Nicor led the MIBC team with 31 points while Ritchie Katipunan and Mark Mitas led EBBC with 39 and 36 points respectively.
